However, it is gaining popularity because of its pleasant flavor, is high in dietary fiber and contains high quality proteins. Pleurotus geesteranus looks similar to other pleurotus or oyster mushrooms, growing in a fan-like shape. It has white stems and a blue grey cap. It can be grown using a different mixtures of sawdust, cottonseed hull, wheat skin and other composted materials.
